Cause For Pause - Day 33

Wow, I apologize for the huge gap in posts. The majority of the activity going on at the house over the past couple of weeks has been on the inside of the house, so it's a bit tougher to tell what's been going on to the casual observer.

Add to that, most of the times that I've been going over to the house have been after work or after picking Grace up from school, so it's already pitch black outside and not ideal for taking pictures.
The bulk of the work has involved either the plumbing or electrical & mechanical systems, so sometimes it even takes me a while to see exactly what's happened on a day-to-day basis.
Below is one of the five new vent fans we now have in our bathrooms. Shockingly, we didn't have ANY fans in our previous two bathrooms. Probably hard to believe with my WC history. :-)

One thing that has also taken a little longer is that because we're essentially getting an entire new electrical system, the wiring for the part of the house that's not really getting renovated that much was somewhat of a hindrance.

The electricians initially tried to just demo the area around each outlet, but that got tedious and time-consuming, so our contractor finally decided to just demo ALL of the walls in the areas we weren't originally touching. It makes sense 'now' because eventually when they start putting in the drywall and the trim and molding everywhere, it will all look the same- new.

The downside is that it would have been more efficient to have done it all at once at the beginning. Oh well, lesson learned.

One of the exciting things to see was the valves for the shower in the master bathroom. We're having one spout from the wall as well as a 'rain' head from the ceiling, and we'll also have a hand-held attachment from the wall near where the bench seat is.

A couple more pocket door frames have been put in, too.

The gas line and gauge finally got moved, so the crew was also able to finish the wooden deck on the front porch.

Pallets of siding were just delivered as well, so the crew will begin putting the siding on Friday and should be finished by the weekend.

Very cool stuff, so stay tuned!
