You can see how it softens the edges to hide the previously exposed rafters.
You can really see the difference between the upper eaves and the one toward the back without the trim.
The workers also did a lot more demo inside at the front of the house so that they'll be able to insulate and drywall everything equally. This is our front room which will eventually be our dining room.
The view below is in the center of what will be the dining room looking toward what used to be Grace's bedroom. It will be a guest room and in-law suite with it's own bathroom. You can see our bright red front door on the left.
We also got quite a surprise when they pulled off the mantle trim from the front of the fireplace.You can see where flames burned the wooden mantle and scorched the brick chimney a long time ago.
This is a picture of the backside of the old mantle, so you can see the burn marks. Sort of scary to think that at some point, that old fireplace could have nearly caught the entire house on fire. We're replacing it with a natural gas fireplace with internal heating.
